"U17 Lionesses" North African champions

The Moroccan women's national football team under 17 years old has won the North African League title, after defeating the Tunisian team 4-3 this evening at the Ariana Stadium (on the outskirts of the Tunisian capital) in the final match of the third round.

The Moroccan players played the final match of the league, which was held in a single group format, having previously recorded a draw against Botswana and a victory over Libya. Therefore, their only option to secure the title was to win against the Tunisians, who had achieved victories over both Botswana and Libya.

The coach of the Moroccan team, Younes Rabi, expressed his happiness in a press statement following the players' victory in the tournament, particularly regarding his satisfaction with the performance they delivered throughout the league. He stated that the goal of the tournament was to engage with Maghreb schools and with a team from Sub-Saharan Africa (Botswana, the guest from outside the region), especially since the league matches came just before the resumption of competitions for the new season. He clarified that these players, born in 2010, will form the first building block for the under 17 national team in anticipation of the 2027 World Cup.

The "Lionesses U17" team had drawn in the first round of the league against their Botswana counterparts (1-1) while they excelled in the second round against the Libyan team (10-0).
