"FIFA 77 Conference" is held in Morocco
The French channel “RMC” confirmed from identical sources that the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has decided to grant Morocco the hosting of its 77th electoral conference in 2027, in a move that reflects the increasing status that the Kingdom has acquired within the international football arena.
This conference will be of special importance, as it will witness the election of a new FIFA president, and it is expected that the current president, Gianni Infantino, will run for a new term that may extend until the year 2031. Data indicate that Infantino will be able to run in the electoral race again, despite the three-term term system, because his first term between 2016 and 2019 was not complete after his succession to Joseph Sepp Blatter.
It is expected that Rabat will host the works of this conference, although the final official location has not yet been announced, as the Moroccan capital will receive delegations of football federations from various parts of the world.
The selection of Morocco comes in the context of its preparations to host part of the 2030 World Cup, in addition to its success in organizing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which strengthens its presence as a global sports destination.
Before the 2027 conference, the next FIFA conference will be held this Thursday in the Canadian city of Vancouver. It will be devoted to discussing financial and organizational files related to the 2026 World Cup, especially with regard to transportation, infrastructure, and coordination of the host stadiums.
The file of the Iranian national team’s participation in the 2026 World Cup will also be discussed during the meeting, amid assurances from International Federation officials that the status of the Iranian national team has not undergone any change up to now.
