Norway visits Iraq's net 4 times.
The Iraqi national team suffered a heavy defeat of 1-4 against the Norwegian team this morning, Wednesday, in the first round of Group H in the group stage of the FIFA World Cup, currently taking place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for Norway in the 29th minute, before Ayman Hussein equalized for the Iraqi team in the 39th minute. However, the Manchester City star struck again, scoring Norway's second goal in the 43rd minute.
Despite Iraqi attempts to equalize, Thilo Azgard compounded the problems for the Iraqi Lions in the match by scoring Norway's third goal in the 76th minute.
Christian Thorstvedt capped off the Norwegian goal fest by scoring the fourth goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time, assisted by Haaland.
With this result, Norway, participating in the World Cup for the fourth time in its history and the first since the 1998 World Cup in France, earned its first three points in the group, sharing the top spot with France, which has the same points after winning by the same score against Senegal earlier in the same round.
In contrast, the Iraqi team, participating in the World Cup for the second time in its history and the first since the 1986 edition, remains without any points.
Iraq will face France in the second round of the group, which will also feature another anticipated match between Norway and Senegal.
It is worth noting that the 48 participating teams in the World Cup have been divided into 12 groups, with 4 teams in each group, and the top two teams will qualify for the knockout stages, along with the best 8 teams that finish in third place.
