"The Tri-World Cup" is adorned with 3 mascots.
The International Football Federation announced the official mascots for the "2026 World Cup," set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, during a ceremony that revealed three characters reflecting the cultural identity of each host country.
The mascots include the moose "Maple" representing Canada, the jaguar "Zayo" representing Mexico, and the American eagle "Clutch" representing the United States. These characters are designed to embody the cultural and heritage diversity and the vibrant spirit that characterizes the three countries, while also highlighting the values reflected by football, foremost among them unity and passion.
Gianni Infantino, the president of the International Football Federation, confirmed that these mascots add a unique entertainment and fan dimension to the tournament, noting that they will play a pivotal role in creating an unprecedented festive atmosphere during the 2026 edition, which is the largest in World Cup history in terms of the number of participating teams.
In a move reflecting the federation's direction towards enhancing digital presence, the three mascots will appear in the electronic game "FIFA Champions," which falls under the federation's digital gaming umbrella, aiming to expand the football fan base and attract the youth demographic across multiple platforms.
The game features a fast-paced style inspired by futsal, allowing users to form teams that include World Cup mascots alongside game stars and fictional characters from entertainment works, with a launch planned for 2026 on various devices, including smartphones and gaming consoles.
The mascots will also be present in the "Super Football League" game on the "Roblox" platform, providing interactive content and rewards inspired by their characters, as part of a strategy aimed at integrating digital entertainment with the tournament experience.
The mascots are expected to play a prominent role during the World Cup competitions by interacting with fans in the host cities and participating in various events, especially with the tournament being held for the first time with 48 teams from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
"Maple" embodies the spirit of Canada through a character that loves exploration and cultural communication, with a passion for goalkeeping, while "Zayo" reflects the strength and vitality of Mexico through a fast-paced offensive style on the field and a deep connection to local traditions off it. Meanwhile, "Clutch" represents the spirit of American leadership and ambition, characterized by enthusiasm and the ability to motivate others both on and off the field.
