Today, Tuesday, the draw for the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations was held at the headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt. The finals are scheduled to take place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda next summer, with widespread attention from various African teams eager to secure their spots for the "continental celebration."
The draw resulted in the Moroccan national team being placed in Group A, alongside teams from Gabon, Niger, and Lesotho, marking a new path towards reaching the continental finals, with great ambitions to continue their strong presence on the African stage and to confirm the position of the "Atlas Lions" among the top contenders for the title.
This qualifying round will see the participation of 48 teams, distributed across four levels according to the ranking issued by FIFA, while some prominent teams, including Ghana and Cape Verde, are absent from the first level despite qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, reflecting the high competitiveness and closeness of levels within the African football system.
