The Colombian national team defeated their Uzbek counterpart 3-1 today, Thursday, in Coordinated Universal Time, at the "Estica" stadium, in the first round of Group 11 of the 2026 World Cup, achieving a strong start in the tournament.

Daniel Munoz opened the scoring for Colombia in the 40th minute, taking advantage of a precise pass from star Luis Diaz and sending the ball into the net with a powerful shot.

The Uzbekistan team, participating in the World Cup finals for the first time, managed to equalize through Abduzbek Fayzullayev in the 60th minute, but the joy of the equalizer did not last long.

Just five minutes later, Luis Diaz restored the lead for the Colombian team by scoring the second goal in the 65th minute, before substitute Jaminton Campos confirmed the superiority of "Los Cafeteros" by scoring the third goal in the final seconds of the match.

With this victory, the Colombian team topped the Group 11 standings with three points, benefiting from Portugal's draw with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which ended in a 1-1 tie earlier that same day.

The Colombian team returned to the World Cup finals after missing the 2022 edition, starting their journey in the 2026 edition with a win that gives them an early advantage in the race for qualification to the next round.
