The Mexico national team kicks off the "2026 World Cup" by scoring twice against South Africa.
Mexico, one of the three host countries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, achieved an easy victory with a score of two goals to none against South Africa.
This came after "Bafana Bafana" finished the match with nine players, today Thursday at the "Estadio Azteca" in Mexico City, while one player from the host team was sent off.
Julian Quinones scored the first goal of the World Cup in the 9th minute of the opening match, and Raul Jimenez added to the tally in the second half, during the 67th minute.
The opening of the "2026 World Cup" saw the expulsion of South Africans Sifiso Hlanti and substitute Themba Zwane in the 49th and 84th minutes respectively, in addition to Mexican Cesar Montes in the 90+2 minute.
