The Atlas Lionesses advance in the FIFA rankings
Today, Tuesday, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) revealed the new global classification for women’s national teams, which witnessed the rise of the Moroccan national team by four places, in a new confirmation of the positive dynamic experienced by the “Atlas Lionesses” during the recent period.
The Moroccan national team ranked 62nd globally with 1,403 points, after being 66th in the previous rankings, thus continuing its gradual progress at the international level, supported by a series of positive results in recent matches.
At the continental level, the “Atlas Lionesses” came in fourth place, behind the leading Nigerian team (36th globally), then the South African team ranked 58th, and the Ghana national team ranked 59th, which reflects the intense competition between these teams on the continent.
This progress came after successive victories for the women’s national team over the Cape Verde national team (3-0) in March, then the Tanzania women’s national team (3-0) in April, in addition to a recent draw against the Mali national team (1-1), as part of the preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals.
