Algerian women in the semi-finals of the "African Cup of Nations".

The Algerian women's national team has qualified for the semi-finals of the 2026 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations for the first time in its history, after defeating their Ivorian counterparts with a score of two to one, in the quarter-final match that took place today, Saturday, at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.

The Ivory Coast team was the first to find the net in the 31st minute amidst Algerian protests regarding the validity of the goal, before one of their players received a red card in the 42nd minute.

The Algerian team took advantage of this numerical superiority to equalize through Inas Khairi in the 58th minute, and despite the Ivorians missing a penalty three minutes later, Amira Ould Brahim succeeded in snatching the winning goal for the Greens with a powerful shot in the 64th minute, securing their passage.

The Algerian team will meet the winner of the match between Ghana and Malawi in the semi-finals next Wednesday, knowing that they have officially secured a spot in the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which is set to be held in Brazil.
