Mouhya is wavering between representing Morocco and Germany.
The rising player Wael Mouhya, a talent from Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany, is still hesitant about which national team he will represent in the future, as both the Moroccan and German football federations are interested in his services, and the 17-year-old has not yet made a decision regarding his international future.
Mouhya is delivering impressive performances during his team's training camp in Tigrensee, where he has caught attention with his technical skills, speed, and notable presence, without being affected by the high expectations placed on him before the new season begins.
Mouhya stated in comments reported by the German newspaper "Kicker": "My goal remains the same; I want to continue playing freely and not burden myself with too many other matters. I like to play with freedom, and that is what distinguishes me."
The player also touched on his international future, having represented various age groups for the German national team so far, while the Royal Moroccan Football Federation continues its efforts to convince him to represent the Moroccan national team in the future.
Mouhya, born in the German city of Mettmann, holds both German and Moroccan citizenship due to his Moroccan roots, which gives him the option to choose between the two national teams, while the player prefers to wait before making a final decision regarding his international future.
Mouhya revealed in March during an interview with "Kicker" magazine that there had been communications from the Moroccan side, saying: "There have indeed been contacts, but I cannot say more than that. I have not made any decision yet, and I will give myself time; we will see what happens."
In mid-July, media reports circulated about his choice to represent the Moroccan national team, but Mouhya denied making any final decision, affirming during his team's camp: "I repeat what I said before, everything is still open. I will give myself time to make the decision; my goal now is to come out of the preparation period healthy and to have a strong start in the league, as that is the most important thing. The rest will come later."
