French coach Ludovic Batelli, who leads the Moroccan national team for under-20s, announced the final list of players who will represent the "Atlas Cubs" in the 20th Mediterranean Games, scheduled to take place in Taranto, Italy, from August 21 to September 3, 2026.
The final list includes 18 players: Saad Antar, Anas Ben Amor, Yahya Ighiz, and Karim Saadi from Raja Casablanca, Hamza Bouhadi, Abdel Rahman Arkid, and Abdel Ilah Daoudi from Fath Rabat, Bilal Soukrate, Abdel Ghafour Ghrari, and Hamza Raji from Nahda Berkan, Yassine Zouhair from the Royal Army, Mohamed Mounsif from Wydad Casablanca, Chaib Belarouch, and Elias Hadawi from the Mohammed VI Academy, Youssef Jamal, and Khaled Al-Qasabi from Union Touarga, in addition to Benjamin Khadri, a player from PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, and Nouham Hamdawa, a player from Cagliari in Italy.
The Moroccan team will compete in Group A alongside the teams from Tunisia, Turkey, and North Macedonia, while Group B includes the teams from Italy, Algeria, Kosovo, and Albania.
The "Atlas Cubs" aim to achieve a remarkable participation in this Mediterranean event and benefit from exposure to different football schools, as part of the ongoing preparation of a new generation capable of representing national football in upcoming continental and international competitions.
In this context, the Moroccan National Olympic Committee revealed the list of the Moroccan delegation participating in the 20th Mediterranean Games, which includes 120 male and female athletes, during the competitions scheduled in Taranto, Italy, from August 21 to September 3.
The committee clarified, via its website, that the Moroccan delegation consists of 72 male athletes and 48 female athletes, and will compete in 18 sports disciplines.
It added that the registration of the delegation with the organizing committee for "Taranto 2026" was done according to the participation conditions, based on the lists of athletes and technical staff proposed by the Moroccan royal federations.
Morocco will participate in athletics, boxing, fencing, football, gymnastics, weightlifting, judo, karate, wrestling, swimming, padel, pétanque, equestrianism, taekwondo, tennis, shooting, triathlon, and sailing.
Football has the largest representation within the Moroccan delegation, with 36 male and female players participating, followed by athletics with 25 athletes, then boxing with nine, karate with seven, and taekwondo with six.
Morocco will also be represented by five athletes in judo, tennis, and wrestling, along with participation in other individual and team sports.
