Recommendations to support the advancement of Moroccan football.
A well-informed source told Hespress that the meeting held yesterday between the coaches of the professional league clubs and representatives of the National Professional Football League, to discuss several issues related to the future of national competitions, saw the coaches reach a consensus on several proposals that will be presented to the club presidents for voting, with the intention of including them in the agenda of the upcoming general assembly, which precedes the draw for the professional league, if approved.
The same source clarified that one of the main points that received unanimous support was the requirement for clubs to include five players under the age of 21 in their final rosters, in addition to allocating an additional financial grant to clubs that provide the most minutes and participation for young players.
He added that there was also an agreement to reduce the number of foreign players in the Moroccan league starting from the summer of 2027, with a return to the condition of signing a foreign player who has previously played at least 10 international matches with his national team, as well as prohibiting the hiring of a foreign coach who has not previously coached a team in the first division in his country or supervised a national team.
The same source indicated that the technical staff of the national clubs also reached a consensus to adopt a new set of requirements that mandates professional league clubs to have a dedicated training ground, and prohibits any team from being promoted to the first division if it does not have a main stadium that meets the conditions. If the second-placed team does not meet these criteria, the promotion right will directly transfer to the third-placed team, provided it meets the required conditions.
The informed source concluded that the proposals also included holding a Moroccan Super Cup match between the champion of the professional league and the champion of the King's Cup, as well as the introduction of individual awards in the league, including Man of the Match for each game, Player of the Month, and Coach of the Month, in addition to amending the rule for counting away goals in playoff matches.
