The executive office of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation resumed its meeting today, Monday, chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa, to continue studying and completing the discussion of the remaining points on the agenda of the previous meeting. A significant part of the work was dedicated to reviewing the achievements of the two national leagues for women's football and diverse football, along with discussing ways to develop them.
Khadija Ella, the president of the National League for Women's Football, presented a report in which she reviewed the league's achievements, starting her intervention by emphasizing the positive results achieved by clubs and national women's teams in various continental and international competitions. She considered that these accomplishments reflect the continuous development of Moroccan women's football and confirm the effectiveness of the strategy adopted in the areas of training, structuring, and enhancing competitiveness.
The speaker clarified that the strategy adopted by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation since 2020 has established the foundations of professionalism and developed women's football by expanding the base of practice, launching the professional league for the first and second divisions, qualifying technical and administrative staff, and improving the quality of competitions.
Khadija Ella added that the transitional phase towards professionalism, extending from 2024 to 2026, focuses on supporting clubs, developing competition organization, and paying special attention to age categories, which enhances the sustainability of the development process. She also reviewed the various championships that the league oversees, including the professional league for the first division, the professional league for the second division, the national amateur championship, and the national championships for under-19 and under-16 categories, in addition to the national women's futsal championship. This is part of a vision aimed at expanding the base of practice, ensuring the continuity of player training, and enhancing the continental and international presence of Moroccan women's football.
Following this presentation, Fouzi Lekjaa wished the national women's team success in their journey in the Africa Cup of Nations, confirming that all national leagues will enjoy complete independence in managing their affairs starting from the end of next December, as part of the ongoing governance project and enhancing management effectiveness.
Regarding the development of women's football, National Technical Director Fathi Jamal called for the establishment of a special center for women's football within the national technical administration, responsible for preparing and implementing specialized technical programs that contribute to the advancement of this sports category and keep pace with its development.
The president of the federation emphasized that the main goal is to train qualified players capable of wearing the national team jersey, confirming that achieving this goal requires improving the quality of coaching and training, and enhancing competitiveness among clubs, which positively reflects on the level of the players.
Lekjaa pointed out that women's football is experiencing rapid development globally, which necessitates keeping pace with this transformation through a clear technical vision. He called on the national technical director to prepare a comprehensive plan that includes the mechanisms and procedures necessary to accelerate the development of women's football in Morocco.
During the discussion, the members of the executive office agreed that women's football in Morocco has witnessed a positive and tangible transformation in recent years thanks to the adopted strategy, emphasizing the need to continue investing in the training of players and technical staff, and expanding the base of practice, ensuring the consolidation of women's football's position and enhancing the sustainability of its development.
At the conclusion of the discussion on this topic, Lekjaa urged Khadija Ella to take the necessary measures to limit some excesses that may occur in the daily management of various women's championships, and to correct some imbalances and practices that hinder the optimal development of this sports category, while ensuring strict application of laws and regulations, and reinforcing the principles of governance and transparency, which guarantees the smooth conduct of competitions and enhances the credibility of women's football, alongside tightening monitoring and rigor in following up on the work of technical, medical, and administrative staff to ensure good governance of human and financial resources.
The president of the federation also emphasized the importance of providing suitable infrastructure for women's football, especially at the regional leagues level, by allocating fields specifically for this sports category, in line with the dynamics of this project, and providing the appropriate conditions for its continued development at both national and continental levels, in harmony with the 2026-2030 vision focused on achievement and excellence.
In another section, Taha Mansouri, president of the National League for Diverse Football, presented a report on the achievements of the 2025-2026 sports season, during which he highlighted the main accomplishments achieved in futsal and beach football competitions.
Mansouri explained that the season was characterized by the regular organization of various national championships and playoff matches, alongside the continuation of the digitization project, by expanding the use of electronic refereeing forms and a license management platform, which contributed to simplifying administrative procedures and enhancing the efficiency of competition management.
The speaker also announced the launch of the league's electronic portal, aimed at developing digital services, facilitating access to various data related to competitions, and enhancing communication with various stakeholders.
The president of the National League for Diverse Football highlighted the cooperation with several international sports bodies, particularly in the field of beach football, to exchange experiences and organize international events, confirming the continuation of implementing development programs for this sports category and reinforcing the principles of governance and digitization.
Mansouri also mentioned the coordination with the "Sports" channel to broadcast several matches of the national futsal championship, in addition to the playoff matches of the national beach football championship, which contributes to expanding the following base and enhancing the media visibility of diverse football competitions. He added that the league continued to support clubs with sports equipment by providing balls and sports gear, which contributes to improving practice conditions and creating a suitable environment to enhance competitiveness.
Following the presentation, Fouzi Lekjaa praised the positive results achieved by various national futsal teams, considering them a product of the continuous work exerted by all components of this sports category.
Lekjaa emphasized the need to continue investing in the infrastructure specific to futsal, in line with the development that this practice is experiencing, and to provide the appropriate conditions for continuing to achieve positive results. He also called for greater attention to the aspect of sports marketing, by developing an effective strategy to enhance the value of diverse football competitions, boost their visibility, and attract more partners and sponsors.
Regarding beach football, the same speaker confirmed the necessity of conducting a comprehensive and objective evaluation of this sports category, and identifying the real reasons that prevent it from achieving the desired level, calling on the national technical administration and the National League for Diverse Football to prepare a practical plan to address the shortcomings and establish mechanisms capable of raising the level of beach football nationally and continentally.
