Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd is on the verge of leaving French club Olympique Marseille during the current summer transfer window, as the French club is close to reaching an agreement with Qatari club Al Sadd for the transfer of the Moroccan defender to the ranks of "the Leader."

The French website "Foot Mercato" reported that negotiations between Marseille and Al Sadd have reached advanced stages, indicating that the anticipated agreement stipulates a loan for Aguerd for four million euros, with the contract including a clause obliging the Qatari club to activate the purchase option for 11 million euros.

The same source added that the remaining step to complete the deal is for Al Sadd to reach an agreement with the 30-year-old Moroccan defender regarding his personal terms, noting that the player is under contract with Olympique Marseille until the summer of 2030.

The same website explained that the management of the French club initially preferred to sell the player outright to generate financial liquidity and improve its economic situation, but later changed its position due to the difficulty of completing a direct transfer and agreed to a loan arrangement for a financial amount with an obligation to buy.

The French website pointed out that the national team defender, who joined Marseille just a year ago, has been the subject of interest from several clubs during the summer transfer window, including his former club Rennes, before Al Sadd advanced in the race to sign him.

The Moroccan international, who has played 64 matches in the "Atlas Lions" jersey, spent one season with Olympique Marseille before the club's management opened the door for his departure as part of its efforts to reduce the wage bill and restore balance to its budget.
