Wydad management is negotiating with goalkeeper Benabid.

"Hasport" learned from a private source that the management of Wydad Athletic Club has started negotiations with goalkeeper Mehdi Benabid, aiming to reach an agreement to renew his contract, as part of its efforts to retain the key players of the team before the start of the new football season.

The same source clarified that negotiations between the two parties began in the past few days, in a positive atmosphere and with a mutual desire to continue the experience, after the goalkeeper has shown remarkable performances since joining the "Red" team.

The source added that the Wydad management considers the renewal of Benabid's contract as one of its priorities during the summer transfer window, to avoid the player entering the last year of his contract, and to maintain the stability of the group that the new technical staff relies on for the upcoming season, led by Portuguese Paulo Sergio.

It is expected that the coming days will witness new rounds of negotiations between Wydad's management and the goalkeeper's representative, in hopes of reaching a final agreement that ensures Benabid continues to defend the "Red" team's goal in the coming years.

Wydad, under the presidency of Ibrahim Al-Asri, announced yesterday, Saturday, the signing of three players: goalkeeper Rashid Ghanimi and players Hamza Janan Allah and Ayman Al-Hassouni, awaiting the announcement of new signings by the new management board that succeeded Hicham Ait Mana.
