The Spanish club Barcelona has set a financial ceiling of no more than 10 million euros for the signing of Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi during the current summer transfer window, benefiting from the decline in the player's market value after Girona's relegation to the second division.

The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" indicated that the injury of Dutch player Frenkie de Jong, which could keep him out of action for several months, has prompted Barcelona's management to reassess their options in midfield, preferring to sign a player who can provide an addition without placing a heavy financial burden on the club's finances.

The same sources clarified that the Catalan club will not be alone in the race to sign the Moroccan international, as they face competition from Real Betis, which has also shown serious interest in acquiring the player, while Ounahi is looking to settle his future before the end of the transfer window.

Ounahi's name was previously linked to Barcelona following his remarkable performance with the Moroccan national team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but the interest did not go beyond the monitoring stage at that time, before the player moved to Olympique Marseille in January 2023, and his name has now returned to the list of interests for the Catalan club.

It is worth noting that Ounahi is seeking to leave Girona in the current summer transfer window to play at a higher level, and his outstanding performance in the recent World Cup with the "Atlas Lions" has led several European clubs to consider signing him.
