Egypt hosts the draw for the "Champions and CAF".
The headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt, will host the draw for the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League (the league) and the CAF Confederation Cup for the new season 2026-2027.
CAF stated in a statement on its official website today, Sunday, that the draw ceremony will take place next Thursday, August 6.
It clarified that the draw for the Confederation Cup will start at 2 PM local time (11 AM GMT), and one hour later, the draw for the African Champions League will take place.
The statement noted that the draw ceremonies for both tournaments will be broadcast on the CAF channel on YouTube, allowing fans across the African continent to follow along.
The preliminary rounds will continue until the Round of 32, and the knockout stages will begin from the quarter-finals, using a two-legged elimination system with the away goals rule applied.
The Round of 16 will be held in a group stage format in both tournaments, where teams will be divided into four groups, each consisting of 4 clubs, with the first and second from each group qualifying for the quarter-finals.
It is worth mentioning that South Africa's Sundowns are the defending champions of the African Champions League from last season, while Algeria's CR Belouizdad won the "CAF Cup."
