Report: Ounahi is close to FC Barcelona.

Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi has entered the sights of Spanish club Barcelona, which is considering signing him during the current summer transfer window to compensate for the absence of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who is expected to be sidelined for several months due to injury.

Spanish channel "El Chiringuito" reported that Barcelona's management has included Ounahi's name on the list of players considered to strengthen the midfield, after De Jong suffered a tear in the medial collateral ligament of his right knee during the 2026 World Cup, an injury that will keep him out until November.

The same sources indicated that the Moroccan midfielder, who has played for Girona, is highly regarded within the Catalan club due to his technical skills and ability to break through opponents' lines, in addition to his experience in La Liga.

The report added that Ounahi has caught the attention of several major European clubs following his performances with the Moroccan national team in the 2026 World Cup, including Ajax Amsterdam, although he has not yet decided on his next destination.

Sources confirmed that Barcelona's management continues to explore available options to compensate for De Jong's absence, with Ounahi being one of the names on the shortlist, but no final decision has been made regarding a formal offer to sign him.
