"Faye's" journey ends with Ivory Coast.

The Ivorian Football Federation announced today, Friday, that it will not renew the contract of the national team coach, Emeris Faie, which expired on July 31, 2026, thus ending his journey with the "Elephants" after two and a half years in charge.

The federation stated in a statement that Faie's contract ended at the end of this July, confirming that it decided not to renew it, while also expressing its appreciation for what the coach contributed to the development of the team and the results achieved during his tenure.

The statement added that what Faie accomplished will remain part of the modern history of Ivorian football.

The 42-year-old coach declined to comment on the federation's decision when contacted by Agence France-Presse.

Faie took over the coaching of the Ivory Coast national team in January 2024, succeeding Frenchman Jean-Louis Gasset, who was dismissed during the African Cup of Nations hosted by the country, following a heavy defeat against Equatorial Guinea by four goals to none in the group stage.

Faie was initially appointed as an interim coach before the federation confirmed him in his position on February 20, 2024, after he led the team to win the African Cup of Nations title by defeating Nigeria two goals to one in the final match.

He also led the "Elephants" to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, where the team reached the second round for the first time in its history, before being eliminated from the competition after losing to Norway two goals to one.

The Ivorian Football Federation confirmed that it will announce the name of the new national team coach later, along with the members of the assistant coaching staff.
