The Asian Football Confederation opposes FIFA's plan.

The Asian Football Confederation joined the opposition to the plan of Swiss Gianni Infantino, the president of the International Football Federation (FIFA), which allows private sector investors to buy shares in the World Cup.

The Asian Confederation confirmed today, Friday, the necessity for FIFA to urgently review its management approach.

The Asian Football Confederation expressed its solidarity with its European counterpart (UEFA) and the North American, Central American, and Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF), which threatened yesterday, Thursday, to boycott FIFA tournaments and rejected Infantino's offer of $20 million for each member association.

The Asian Confederation clarified in a statement that Infantino's proposed commercial company worth $20 billion for FIFA events, backed by New York-based investor Joshua Kushner, "cannot achieve the consensus and unity necessary for implementation," emphasizing the need for reconsideration.

The Asian Confederation, which includes 47 countries, added in its statement: "Accordingly, the Confederation calls on FIFA to conduct an urgent review of its governance and decision-making framework."

The Confederation wrote in a statement: "The Asian Football Confederation has followed with great concern the developments that have occurred in recent days regarding the proposal to establish the FIFA Forward Enterprise and the resulting uncertainty within the global football community."

It added: "The Confederation expresses its solidarity with UEFA and CONCACAF in voicing their serious concerns regarding FIFA's proposal to introduce private investments in its major tournaments, as well as the decision-making mechanism related to the FIFA Forward Foundation."

It continued: "The Asian Confederation believes that the situation has reached a point where the possibility of boycotting the World Cup is being discussed publicly, which should raise concern for anyone who cares about the future of the game; football should not have reached such a situation."

It clarified: "In light of this, and considering the clear positions expressed by both UEFA and CONCACAF, in addition to the unprecedented divisions that have emerged within the global football family, the Asian Confederation believes that the proposal for the FIFA Forward Foundation cannot realistically achieve the necessary consensus and unity to move forward."

It emphasized that "the World Cup represents the pinnacle of global football, drawing its strength from the participation of all continental federations and the top national teams in the world, and any proposal that threatens the unity and global character of the tournament must be reconsidered."
