Rennes faces obstacles in recovering Akord.

The French club Stade Rennais is still keen on the idea of bringing back Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd to its ranks during the ongoing summer transfer window, but finalizing the deal is facing a number of financial and sporting complications that are delaying its resolution.

French media reports indicate that the main obstacles lie in the buyout clause included in the Moroccan defender's contract, which is valued at 15 million euros, with the requirement to pay the amount in full in one installment before the expiration of this clause on July 31. This limits the maneuvering room for the French club.

The same sources added that Rennes' movements in the transfer market are also linked to the fate of several targeted defenders; Argentine Facundo Medina continues his negotiations to move to Bayer Leverkusen, which has prioritized him to strengthen its backline.

On the other hand, Argentine defender Leonardo Balerdi prefers to embark on a new experience in the Italian league, given the serious interest from several clubs, which forces Rennes to keep more than one option available to bolster its defense this summer.

Despite these circumstances, the French club continues to explore various possible scenarios to bring back Aguerd, who previously shone in the team's jersey before moving to the English league, and remains one of the prominent names on the club's management table to strengthen the defense in preparation for the upcoming season.
