The future of Akord is at stake in Marseille.

The future of Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd with French football club Olympique Marseille is shrouded in uncertainty, as his position within the team has diminished, amid increasing talk of a possible departure during the current summer transfer window, in light of interest from Gulf clubs and the resurfacing of his former team Stade Rennais.

The French newspaper "La Provence" revealed that Marseille's management no longer considers the Moroccan defender unsellable, having opened discussions about his future following a first season that did not meet expectations, during which he was affected by a groin injury that kept him from participating regularly with both the team and the Moroccan national team in the recent World Cup.

The same outlet added that this shift in the club's officials' stance could pave the way for Aguerd's transfer this summer, especially with interest from some Gulf clubs closely monitoring his situation, while waiting for Marseille to make a final decision regarding the player.

Meanwhile, the name Stade Rennais has resurfaced strongly in the transfer market, as media reports indicated the possibility of bringing the Moroccan defender back to the team he represented between 2020 and 2022, before moving to West Ham in England; this comes amid stalled negotiations between the French club and other defenders.

French follower Jonathan, known for his interest in transfer news, heightened speculation by confirming via his account on the platform "X" that the idea of Aguerd returning to Rennes has been on the table since the end of June, despite the lack of sufficient information confirming advanced negotiations.

Aguerd is under contract with Olympique Marseille until the summer of 2030; however, the existence of a clause allowing his departure for around 15 million euros could facilitate the completion of the deal, should the club receive an offer that meets its conditions.
