The Wydad Athletic Club is close to finalizing an agreement with Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio to lead the first team during the upcoming football season, with a contract lasting one season, according to the Portuguese website "Maisfutebol."

The same source confirmed that the 58-year-old Portuguese coach will embark on his first coaching experience on the African continent, as he is nearing a final agreement with the management of the red club to take over the technical direction of the team.

Paulo Sergio arrives at Wydad after a two-year stint in the Saudi league, benefiting from a coaching career that has spanned several leagues, having previously worked in Scotland, Romania, Cyprus, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, among other stops.

The choice of the Portuguese coach by Wydad comes as part of the team's preparations for the new season, as the club's management is betting on his international experience to lead the team in competing for local and continental titles, and to bring Wydad back to the forefront in the upcoming phase.
