Wazrawi: "The lionesses" are looking forward to the World Cup.

The Moroccan forward Soukaina Wazrawi has great ambitions with the Moroccan women's national team, aiming to secure qualification for the Women's World Cup for the second consecutive time, which will be hosted in Brazil in 2027.

This comes as Morocco hosts the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, where the team, led by coach Jorge Vilda, begins its journey by facing the Kenyan national team, with hopes from the "Atlas Lionesses" to reach at least the semi-finals to ensure direct qualification for the World Cup, and to lift the continental trophy in front of Moroccan fans in the tournament that runs from July 26 to August 16.

Wazrawi expressed her great enthusiasm in statements to FIFA's official website about the possibility of playing in the World Cup in Brazil, saying she considers it the land of football and football beauty, pointing to her country's desire to showcase Moroccan football style and impress South America.

The Moroccan national team is competing in the African tournament within a tough first group that includes the national teams of Kenya, Algeria, and Senegal, supported by significant development after the historic achievement in the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand when it became the first Arab team to reach the knockout stages, in addition to the positive impact of the men's team's journey in the 2026 World Cup by reaching the quarter-finals after making it to the semi-finals in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The 24-year-old forward confirmed that the Moroccan national team now has a stronger and more experienced squad thanks to professional players in the best European leagues and the logistical support and significant development provided by the football federation, starting from medical staff to modern technologies, noting that she enters this third major tournament in her international career with a greater leadership personality and high ambitions to continue making history and proving the ability of Moroccan women's football to compete with the world's top teams.
