Vilda and the team confirm the readiness of the "Lionesses" to compete in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Spanish coach Jorge Vilda, head coach of the Moroccan women's national football team, and captain Ghazlan Chabaka, confirmed today, Saturday, the national team's readiness to compete in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, emphasizing that the goal is to deliver a great tournament in front of Moroccan fans, while striving to qualify for the World Cup.
During the press conference ahead of the opening match of the "CAN" between Morocco and Kenya, scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, Vilda began his remarks by thanking the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for the conditions provided to the team during the preparation period.
The Spanish coach said: "I would like to thank the Royal Moroccan Football Federation for all the excellent preparation conditions they have provided us. We have trained hard for a full month and played two good friendly matches, which has allowed us to arrive at the tournament in the best shape, after correcting some mistakes and strengthening our strengths."
He added: "We enter this competition with great ambition and enthusiasm. Honestly, the last few days felt a bit long, but there are only a few hours left until the tournament starts, and we are very eager to begin the competition."
Vilda also highlighted the importance of Morocco hosting this tournament, considering that playing in front of Moroccan fans provides an additional motivation. He said: "Playing in front of our fans and among the players' families gives us great support. We do not feel pressure, but rather excitement to show the true level of the team, and we are confident that the fans will support us, especially in difficult moments."
Regarding the team's goals, the Spanish coach clarified that the focus is on each match individually, saying: "Our primary goal is to qualify for the World Cup, and the players have known this from the beginning, but in the past weeks, our focus has been entirely on the match against Kenya, and we will approach the tournament match by match, hoping for a long journey."
