Raja Casablanca is looking to retain its defender Mehdi Machkakh within the team for the upcoming football season, amid the changes the club is experiencing in its squad during the current summer transfer window, led by Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi.
"Hesport" learned from a reliable source that Machkakh, who was strongly tipped to leave the "green fortress" during the summer transfer window, is now close to continuing his journey with the team, especially after the departure of defender Abdullah Khafifi, who is close to transferring to Maghreb de Fès.
The same source added that the technical staff, led by Nasreddine Nabi, is convinced of the technical and physical abilities that Machkakh possesses, which prompted them to include him in the group they will rely on for the next season, despite the club management's efforts to sign a new central defender during the ongoing transfer period.
In a related context, Nabi has requested the management of Raja to strengthen the team with a number of experienced players in preparation for the upcoming football season; he prioritizes signing a central defender, in addition to reinforcing other positions, notably the left-back and midfield, as well as seeking to enhance the front line with players capable of making an impact.
Raja had announced, in an official statement, the allocation of a comfortable financial envelope designated for signings during the summer transfer window, as part of the coordination between the sports committee and the auditing committee, allowing the sports management to strengthen the team's composition according to its needs, in line with the goals for the upcoming season and the club's sports project.
