Algerian Aïssa Mandi retires from international play.

Issa Mandi, the defender of the Algerian national football team, announced his international retirement yesterday, Wednesday, thus concluding a remarkable career that lasted more than 12 years wearing the national team's jersey.

Mandi (34 years old) revealed his decision through a video clip on his Facebook page, which included the highlights of his experiences with the Algerian national team.

The Algerian national team's Facebook page commented on the decision, stating, "Issa Mandi, the record holder for the most international matches with the Greens, announces his retirement from international play."

Mandi holds the record for the most appearances with Algeria, totaling 122 international matches. He also participated in the World Cups of 2014 and 2026, in addition to the most significant achievement of winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 in Egypt.

Mandi's retirement comes just a few days after a similar step taken by the captain of the Algerian national team, Riyad Mahrez, who announced his international retirement following the exit from the Round of 32 in the last World Cup after a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland.
