Ipswich Town signs Issa Diop.

The English club Ipswich Town has finalized its contract with Moroccan international Aissa Diop, announcing today, Wednesday, the signing of the defender coming from Fulham on a deal that extends until the summer of 2030, as part of strengthening its squad in preparation for the new season.

Diop arrives at his new team after an exceptional summer with the Moroccan national team, where he was one of the standout players for the "Atlas Lions" in the 2026 World Cup, participating in five matches and contributing to the team's advancement to the quarter-finals, as well as scoring a goal against the Netherlands.

Ipswich Town clarified through its official website that the player will join the team's training after the end of the break he received following his participation in the "World Cup," as he is currently absent from the training camp taking place in La Manga, Spain.

Diop expressed his happiness in embarking on this new chapter in his professional career, confirming that he felt from the beginning of the negotiations that Ipswich was the right destination for him, and he looks forward to joining his teammates and getting to know the club's fans in the upcoming period.

For his part, coach Gary O'Neil praised the signing, considering that the team has gained a defender with significant experience in the Premier League, along with his competitive personality and technical abilities, affirming that the levels he showcased with the Moroccan national team in the World Cup enhance the value of signing him.

Diop has extensive experience in English football, having played 173 matches in the Premier League, including 119 appearances for West Ham United, before moving to Fulham, where he represented the club for the last four seasons.

Despite representing various age groups for the French national team and winning the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2016, the defender born in Toulouse decided to wear the jersey of the Moroccan senior national team, benefiting from his Moroccan roots, becoming one of the key players for the "Atlas Lions" in the "2026 World Cup."
