The election of Ibrahim Al-Asri opens a new chapter in the path of Wydad Athletic Club.

Ibrahim Al-Asri was officially elected today, Tuesday, as the new president of Wydad Athletic Club during the ordinary and electoral general assembly held at a hotel in Casablanca.

The voting process consisted of two rounds; in the first round, Ibrahim Al-Asri topped the ballot with 62 votes, followed by Saadallah Yassine with 43 votes, while Anas Korami came in third with 27 votes, alongside 7 invalid ballots out of 139 voters. Korami exited the race, while Al-Asri and Saadallah Yassine proceeded to a second round to determine the presidency.

In the second round, Ibrahim Al-Asri again surpassed Saadallah Yassine, receiving 72 votes compared to Yassine's 56 votes, out of a total of 135 votes.

The general assembly began in a tense atmosphere after the members refused to discuss the literary report before dismissing the financial report. Following this, Hicham Ait Mena announced the resignation of the board of directors, and the assembly's work moved to the electoral phase.

The start of the electoral segment saw controversy over the acceptance of Saadallah Yassine's list, as the general assembly initially rejected its candidacy. However, discussions among the three candidates led to an agreement, with both Ibrahim Al-Asri and Anas Korami consenting to accept the list, allowing the electoral process to continue with the presence of all three lists.

After the first round concluded, the law required the second round to be postponed to a later date. However, the members unanimously voted to hold it on the same day, eager to expedite the election of a new president and end the transitional phase the club is experiencing.
