Millions of crowds welcome the world champions in the streets of the Spanish capital, Madrid.

The celebrations of the Spanish national team for winning the World Cup title continued after their return to the country today, Monday. The Spanish team bus arrived at Columbus Square, one of the most prominent landmarks in the capital, Madrid, amidst large crowds on both sides of the road.

The Catalan newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that, according to the latest data, 1.8 million people took to the streets of the capital, Madrid, to greet the Spanish players and participate in the celebrations for winning the World Cup title. It added that, according to the authorities, about 120,000 people were present in Cibeles Square, eagerly waiting for the arrival of the Spanish team bus.

Before this parade, King Felipe VI of Spain welcomed his country's team, which won the 2026 World Cup title, today, Monday, after their return from the United States, describing the team as "prestigious and legendary," and stating that they achieved a historic accomplishment.

King Felipe told the players during the team's reception at the royal palace in the capital, Madrid: "You are exhausted, but what a delightful fatigue, congratulations to you."

The King of Spain added: "Winning this title is the culmination of a truly epic journey, enjoy it and celebrate," and continued: "Enjoy every moment of these celebrations, for you deserve all the appreciation," thanking the players and noting that his country currently holds both the men's and women's World Cup titles.

King Felipe traveled to the World Cup final, which took place last night, Sunday, in New Jersey, accompanied by Queen Letizia and their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.

The King of Spain embraced several players while shaking hands with them during the trophy presentation on the podium, and also took commemorative photos with the golden trophy.
