King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to King Felipe VI of the Kingdom of Spain, on the occasion of the Spanish national football team's victory in the twenty-third edition of the World Cup, which was hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
In this message, the king addressed the Spanish monarch, and through him, the friendly Spanish people, with "the warmest expressions of congratulations on this great sporting achievement that confirms the strong presence of Spanish football on the global level."
The message included, "As I, along with the Moroccan people, share with you and the Spanish people feelings of joy and pride in this second world title for your friendly neighboring country, I must commend the determination and high competitive spirit demonstrated by the components of your young national team throughout this tournament, which qualified them to win the World Cup with merit and deserving."
The king added, "As we once again congratulate Your Majesty on this global football title, wishing Spanish football further brilliance and delightful contributions, I hope you will kindly accept my highest expressions of appreciation."
