The Football Association renews its trust in Mohamed Wahbi.

The executive office of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation held a meeting on Thursday, chaired by Fouzi Lekjaa, dedicated to discussing preparations for organizing the 2030 World Cup and evaluating the Moroccan national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup, before announcing at the end of its proceedings the renewal of confidence in coach Mohamed Wahbi to continue leading the national team.

Fouzi Lekjaa opened the meeting by emphasizing that Morocco's organization, alongside Spain and Portugal, of the 2030 World Cup finals requires comprehensive mobilization and collective engagement to ensure the event is organized under the best conditions, considering that this "entitlement falls within the vision led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to develop national sports."

He explained that attention will turn to the three countries immediately after the current World Cup concludes, which necessitates accelerating the pace of preparations and enhancing coordination among various stakeholders. He added that the "Morocco 2030" institution will oversee the organization of the tournament in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, ensuring the continuity of coordination between the two sides and the success of this national project.

The president of the federation called on national leagues to develop their working methods and transition from a monitoring role to actively contributing to achieving the set goals before and after 2030, thereby enhancing the status of Moroccan football both regionally and internationally.

In evaluating the Moroccan national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup, the executive office considered reaching the quarter-finals a positive outcome that confirms the continued development of Moroccan football, noting that this path is an extension of the work that began in 2018, which contributed to the team's rise from 84th to 6th place in the FIFA world rankings.

The members of the office confirmed that the team faced opponents ranked among the top ten globally during the tournament, reflecting the difficulty of the competition, and stressed that the next challenge is to achieve a greater accomplishment in future editions while maintaining and developing the gains achieved in the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.

The members of the office also criticized what they described as rumors and misinformation that followed the team's match against France in the quarter-finals, calling for the protection of the national team from inaccurate news and distancing it from any narrow calculations that could affect its stability.

In response to the members' interventions, Fouzi Lekjaa affirmed that the royal message addressed to the national sports forum in 2008 served as a reference for the development of national sports, pointing out that the results achieved by national teams across various age categories reflect the soundness of the adopted approach, citing the under-20 team's World Cup victory and the performance of the under-17 team, in addition to the Olympic team's bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.
