Initial communications between the two parties had previously halted due to Chaabani's contract with Renaissance Berkane, which included a penalty clause that prevented the completion of the agreement.

However, the Tunisian radio station "Mosaic" reported that recent communications took place between the Tunisian Federation and prominent officials in Moroccan football, which may help overcome this obstacle and open the door for negotiations to continue.
