The presence of the "Atlas Lionesses" draws attention.

The African Football Confederation highlighted the most notable numbers and statistics that characterized the last three editions of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, organized in 2018, 2022, and 2024, praising the remarkable presence of the Moroccan national team players, led by Ghizlane Chabbak and Fatima Tagnaout.

CAF confirmed through its official website that the recent editions of the tournament witnessed exceptional competitive levels and notable figures, both in terms of the number of goals and individual performances, emphasizing that Morocco made a strong presence through the brilliance of several of its players.

In the 2024 edition, which was won by the Nigerian national team, 26 matches were held in which 66 goals were scored, averaging 2.54 goals per match, while Nigeria finished the competition with the strongest attack, scoring 14 goals.

Moroccan international Ghizlane Chabbak topped the scorers' list with five goals scored in six matches, while Nigerian Esther Okoronkwo was the best playmaker, providing six assists.

In the 2022 edition, which saw the South African team crowned champions, 28 matches were held, resulting in 63 goals scored, averaging 2.25 goals per match. Both South Africa and Nigeria shared the title of the strongest attack with ten goals each.

In the same edition, Ghizlane Chabbak shared the top scorer title with three goals alongside Nigerian Rashidat Ajibade and South African Hilda Magaia, while Moroccan Fatima Tagnaout shone as the best playmaker with three assists.

Regarding the 2018 edition, which was won by the Nigerian team, the tournament recorded the highest scoring rate among the three editions, with 51 goals scored in 16 matches, averaging 3.19 goals per match, while the South African team had the strongest attack with 11 goals, and South African Thembi Kgatlana was the top scorer of the competition with five goals.

These figures highlight the continuous development of women's football in Africa, especially ahead of the tournament hosted by Morocco from July 25 to August 16.

It is worth noting that the women's national team was drawn alongside the teams from Senegal, Algeria, and Kenya.
