Tanger Union bids farewell to coach Pepe Mel.
The Tangier Union Club sent a message of thanks and appreciation to the Spaniard Pepe Mel and his assistants Alvaro and Ignacio, announcing the end of their journey within the club after the period they spent in various technical and administrative roles.
The Tangier Union clarified, in an official statement, that Pepe Mel and his team demonstrated competence and professionalism since joining the club, whether during their supervision of the first team's technical staff or after transitioning to work within the sports administration. They contributed to the preparation of the sports project and established the foundations for a more professional structure for the first team and the club's academy, in addition to developing the Tangier Union School and training the technical staff.
The statement added that the Spanish staff distinguished themselves with commitment, discipline, and dedication in performing their duties, considering that the work they accomplished had a positive impact on supporting the club's sports project and strengthening its future foundations, before wishing them success in their upcoming professional endeavors.
The Tangier Union had announced, on December 2, 2025, its contract with the Spanish coach Pepe Mel to lead the first team, succeeding the national coach Hilal Al-Tair.
In March, the club's management decided to keep Pepe Mel within the technical system, assigning him the role of technical director responsible for training and the academy, coinciding with the appointment of Algerian Abdelhak Benchikha as the first team's coach, before the club officially announced today the end of the Spanish coach's experience and that of his assistants.
