Egyptian reports link Zamalek with Jamal Salami.
Egyptian media reports have revealed that Zamalek Club has entered a new phase in its search for a coach to lead the team during the upcoming football season, after the club's management inquired about the salary requested by national coach Jamal Salami, in preparation for opening official negotiations with him.
According to the same sources, Zamalek officials have begun to gauge the Moroccan coach's financial demands, following the end of his experience with the Jordanian national team, which exited the 2026 World Cup, as part of the white club's efforts to finalize the new coach's file as soon as possible.
The reports added that Zamalek's management shifted its focus to Salami after its negotiations with Portuguese coach Alexander Santos faltered due to the failure to reach an agreement on financial aspects, before the latter signed a contract to coach Kuwait SC after parting ways with the Royal Army.
Jamal Salami is considered one of the most prominent Moroccan coaching names; he previously led the local national team to win the African Nations Championship for local players in 2020, and has coached several Moroccan clubs, including Raja Casablanca, Hassania Agadir, and Fath Rabat, among others, before taking on a role with the Jordanian national team, which he led to the 2026 World Cup finals for the first time in its history, leaving his position immediately after the elimination following a two-year tenure.
It is worth noting that Al Ahly, Zamalek's traditional rival, has contracted with national coach Hussein Amouta for two seasons.
