"Wahbi's options ignite Amrabat's anger."
Mohamed Amrabat, the brother of Moroccan international player Sofyan Amrabat, revealed the psychological state of the national team star following the "Atlas Lions" exit from the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, after losing to the French team by two goals to none.
Mohamed Amrabat said in a statement to the Dutch radio "funxfm": "The elimination is very unfortunate; more could have been achieved. Sofyan gets angry when he loses, so it's better to leave him alone for a while."
He added: "I think he feels a great disappointment, and I believe he is completely fed up with this coach (Mohamed Wahbi), but in any case, we did win against the Netherlands."
Sofyan Amrabat did not start in the 2026 World Cup finals, as Wahbi chose to rely on Ayoub Bouaddi and Nail Al-Ainawi in the defensive midfield position.
It is worth noting that Sofyan Amrabat is considered one of the standout stars of the national team in the "Qatar 2022" World Cup, and he has regained much of his potential recently while playing for Real Betis in Spain, which he joined last season on loan from Turkish club Fenerbahçe.
