I promise you from "the smallest in the quarter-finals."
Moroccan midfielder Ayoub Bouaddi has become the second youngest player to play in a World Cup quarter-final, behind Brazilian legend Pelé, in the match against France today, Thursday, in Boston, USA.
Since the beginning of the World Cup, the Lille midfielder has delivered impressive performances, and at the age of 18 years and 280 days, Bouaddi has become the second youngest player to participate in the quarter-finals.
He is still behind a great name, Pelé, who was only 17 years and 239 days old when he played his first quarter-final in the World Cup, during the match between Brazil and Wales in 1958.
The star of the Brazilian legend shone in that match, as he scored the only goal (1-0), becoming the youngest goalscorer in World Cup history, a record that still stands today.
Just like Bouaddi, Pelé emerged during that first World Cup of his, even leading Brazil to its first title in history, scoring six goals.
Bouaddi has also become, with his participation today with the Moroccan national team, the first African player ever to play in five World Cup matches before turning twenty.
