The Portuguese Conceição is the new coach of the army.
The Royal Army Club announced today, Thursday, its contract with Portuguese coach Swarez Gonçalves Pedro Valdemar to oversee the technical staff of the first team, with a contract lasting for two sporting seasons, succeeding his compatriot Alexander Santos.
The "military" club confirmed in an official statement that this contract comes immediately after the end of Alexander Santos's duties, who led the team for a season and a half and left for Kuwaiti club Al Kuwait; wishing him success in his upcoming professional career and praising the efforts he made during his time overseeing the club.
The Royal Army relies on the new Portuguese coach to lead the club's sports project over the next two seasons, amid the team's fans' aspirations to compete strongly for local titles and return to the continental spotlight.
Gonçalves previously coached the Angola national team in addition to his recent experience with Tanzanian team Young Africans, according to the "Transfer Market" website.
It is worth noting that the Royal Army finished the season in fourth place with 55 points, and also qualified yesterday, Wednesday, for the Round of 16 of the Throne Cup after defeating Stade Marocain 2-1; while finishing as runners-up in the African Champions League after losing the title to South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.
