"FIFA" maintains the warning for France's player Olyss.
Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, confirmed that FIFA rejected his team's appeal today, Wednesday, against the referee's decision regarding his star player Michael Olise, which included the controversial yellow card he received during France's victory over Paraguay in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.
Deschamps said: "There has been no change to FIFA's decision regarding the yellow card. We received FIFA's decision this morning affirming the card."
This means that if Olise receives another yellow card during France's match against Morocco in the quarter-finals tomorrow, Thursday, it will result in him being suspended from participating in a potential semi-final match.
The French Football Federation filed an appeal against the decision made against Olise in the 97th minute of the match that ended with France winning 1-0 against Paraguay, following a verbal altercation between him and Matias Galarza.
The appeal came after U.S. President Donald Trump made a phone call last week to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, stating that American forward Folarin Balogun should not have been suspended for Monday's match against Belgium due to receiving a red card in last week's game. FIFA lifted the suspension and allowed Balogun to play.
