The Egyptian Football Association has filed a complaint to FIFA.
The Egyptian Football Association is seeking justice after expressing its strong dissatisfaction with the performance of the refereeing crew in the dramatic loss of the Egyptian national team to Argentina with a score of 2-3, yesterday, Tuesday, in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.
The Argentine team turned a two-goal deficit into an exciting 3-2 victory, but the Egyptian team believes it deserved to lead 3-0 after the referee disallowed a goal scored by Zizo following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) due to a minor foul.
The Pharaohs believe they were denied a clear penalty just moments before the winning goal scored by Enzo Fernández in stoppage time.
Hani Abou Rida, the president of the Egyptian Football Association, told reporters at the team's hotel that he had filed a complaint with FIFA against the French referee François Letexier and his assistants, demanding the exclusion of the refereeing crew from officiating the remaining matches of the tournament.
The Egyptian Association is calling for an investigation into the referees' performance in the match.
Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, had already made sharp accusations immediately after the end of the match.
He said: "We were wronged, and what happened to us was unfair. Perhaps they wanted to keep the world champion in the tournament, and maybe they wanted (Lionel) Messi to continue his journey in the competition."
Hassan announced a personal boycott regarding following the remaining matches of the World Cup after returning to Cairo.
He said: "I promise you: as soon as I return, I will not watch any match in this edition of the World Cup. This is my internal struggle, my personal protest, and my own way of voicing my opinion and responding to what happened."
