The Jordanian national team dismisses coach Salami.
The Jordanian Football Association has dismissed the national team coach, Moroccan Jamal Salami, following the "Nashama's" exit from the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, as announced by the association's president, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, on Sunday.
In its first participation in the World Cup, currently being held in Canada, the USA, and Mexico, the Jordanian team suffered three consecutive defeats; the first against Austria with a score of 3-1, the second against Algeria with a score of 2-1, and finally losing to Argentina with a score of 3-1, thus exiting the competition in the first round.
The president of the Jordanian Football Association, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, wrote on his account on the "X" platform, commenting on a picture of him with Salami: "During my meeting with my dear brother Captain Jamal Salami today. As you conclude your journey with the Nashama, we thank you for your efforts and outstanding contributions, and for your role in achieving the historic accomplishment of our national team qualifying for the World Cup."
He continued: "Your experience with the Nashama has been exceptional, and you will always remain a beloved son of Jordan for your dedication, professionalism, and leadership spirit. I wish you continued success and good fortune in your next endeavor, and you will always be welcome for advice and a source of experience that we cherish and benefit from."
