"The Confederation of African Football opens nominations to host the Africa Cup of Nations."
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Friday the opening of nominations for member national federations to host the Africa Cup of Nations for the editions of 2028, 2032, and 2036.
CAF clarified in an official statement that it has invited all 54 federations under its umbrella to express their interest and submit nomination files according to a set of requirements prepared in collaboration with the global consulting firm "PwC," along with specialized advisors in technical, financial, and legal aspects.
The continental body confirmed that the new framework for selecting host countries aims to ensure a process characterized by transparency, credibility, and integrity, aligning with the best international practices in evaluating nomination files and selecting the organizing country.
The statement noted that the Africa Cup of Nations is the largest sporting event on the continent, enjoying wide global viewership, attracting over 3.2 billion viewers, in addition to recording nearly 6 billion views across various digital platforms.
CAF reminded that the 2027 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, during the period from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
CAF also confirmed that it will continue in the future to organize a major tournament for men's national teams every year, except for the years when the World Cup finals are held, with additional details regarding upcoming continental competitions to be announced later.
