Algeria's journey ended in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, after losing to Switzerland 0-2 on Thursday in Vancouver, continuing their struggle against European teams.
The "Desert Warriors" did not present a case for advancing to the Round of 16, which they reached only once in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, falling behind with a goal from Breel Embolo (10) before Dan Ndoye (46) scored the second.
Switzerland will face the winner of the match on Friday between Colombia and Ghana in the Round of 16, on July 7 in Vancouver as well.
