A newspaper praises the Mohammed VI Academy.
The Spanish newspaper "La Vanguardia" highlighted the crucial role played by the Mohammed VI Football Academy in promoting Moroccan football, considering that this institution is one of the main pillars that enabled the Atlas Lions to establish themselves among the best teams in the world.
The newspaper wrote that the historical journey of the Atlas Lions to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, along with their performance in the current edition of the tournament, is not at all a coincidence, but rather the result of deep work carried out over the years in the field of youth talent development.
The newspaper pointed out that the current Moroccan national team includes several players who graduated from the Mohammed VI Academy, including Azzedine Ounahi, Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti, and Nayef Aguerd, emphasizing that this training center, which opened in 2009, combines sports preparation, academic education, personal development, and comprehensive support for youth.
The daily confirmed that the goal of this institution is not limited to training professional football players, but also aims to prepare young people capable of succeeding both on and off the field, as part of a project launched in 2008 under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with the aim of making Morocco a sports reference at both the continental and international levels.
"La Vanguardia" added that the academy oversees the training of about 450 young players aged between 7 and 13 from various parts of the kingdom, but only about twenty join its excellence program annually, reflecting the high level of rigor that characterizes the selection process.
The newspaper continued that since the establishment of the academy, more than twenty of its graduates have moved to European leagues or are currently playing in them, while around thirty players have continued their careers in the first division of Moroccan football.
The daily also reported the recent transfer of Fouad Zahouani to Ajax Amsterdam as the latest example of the success of this institution, which, alongside the Mohammed VI Football Complex, is one of the driving forces behind the development of Moroccan football.
According to "La Vanguardia," the results achieved by various Moroccan teams in recent years, particularly the historic qualification for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and the successes recorded in youth categories, confirm the validity of the training model adopted by the kingdom.
