England escapes the "Panama trap" on a historic night for Prince Harry Kane at the World Cup.
The England national team concluded its group stage journey, sitting atop Group 12 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The English team achieved an easy victory of 2-0 against Panama on Saturday evening local time, in the third (and final) round of Group 12 in the current World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The England team played the match with calm nerves, having previously secured qualification for the knockout stages of the tournament, which they dream of winning for the second time in their history, having previously won it in 1966.
At MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for England in the 62nd minute, while veteran star Harry Kane added the second goal in the 67th minute, becoming the all-time top scorer for the England national team in the World Cup with 11 goals.
The England team raised its points total to 7 at the top of the table, while Panama, which exited the competition before playing the match, remained at the bottom of the standings with no points, being the only team that has not scored any goals in the current edition of the tournament.
