Al-Khanous steals the spotlight at the World Cup.
Moroccan international Bilal El Khannous continues to steal the spotlight at the 2026 World Cup, having recorded the largest jump in the FIFA player performance ranking, presented by Aramco, confirming his status as one of the top playmakers in the global tournament.
According to data released by the International Football Federation, the ranking is based on the analysis of individual player performance in three main categories: attack, playmaking, and defense, aimed at measuring each player's actual impact during World Cup matches.
El Khannous's brilliance came after his outstanding performance in Morocco's victory over Haiti, scoring four goals to two, during the group stage, where he played a pivotal role in building Moroccan attacks and creating opportunities thanks to the accuracy of his passes and his movements between the opponent's lines.
Statistics highlighted that the Stuttgart player completed 20 successful passes towards Haiti's areas, also topping the list of players in the match for breaking through the opponent's lines, contributing directly to linking the midfield with the national team's attacking elements.
Thanks to this performance, El Khannous achieved the largest advancement across various ranking categories, jumping 351 places at once to occupy the twenty-fourth position globally in the playmaking ranking, reflecting the development of his level and his increasing impact within the "Atlas Lions" squad.
The ranking also saw the rise of several other players, including Bosnian Karim Alaybegovic, who advanced 276 places in the attack category, and Ivorian Nicolas Pépé, who climbed to the nineteenth position after his scoring brilliance, alongside the emergence of Gila Doi and Alistair Johnston in the defensive category.
This achievement enhances El Khannous's growing status within the Moroccan national team, as he has become one of the key pillars of coach Mohamed Wahbi's squad, thanks to his tactical vision and ability to create plays and control the rhythm of matches.
With the knockout stages of the 2026 World Cup underway, Moroccan fans are looking forward to El Khannous's continued brilliance and leading the "Atlas Lions" towards achieving a new milestone in the global tournament.
