The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced today, Saturday, the appointment of Brazilian referee Wilton Sampaio to officiate the match between Morocco and the Netherlands, as part of the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for June 30 at the Monterrey Stadium in Mexico, at 2 AM Moroccan time.
Sampaio will be assisted in managing the match by his compatriots Bruno Pires as the first assistant referee, and Bruno Bosqueira as the second assistant referee, while the fourth official role has been assigned to Chilean Cristian Garay, and the fifth official to his compatriot José Ritamala.
Sampaio is considered one of the prominent referees on the international stage, having previously officiated many major matches in continental and global tournaments, and he possesses extensive experience in international competitions.
This match comes as part of the knockout stage, where both teams are striving to secure a ticket to the next round of the tournament.
The winner of this match will face the qualifier from the match between Canada and South Africa, which is expected to take place on July 4 in Houston.
