The Moroccan fans and the national team received a special welcome in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, coinciding with the arrival of the "Atlas Lions" delegation in preparation for their match against the Netherlands in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Samuel Garcia, the governor of Nuevo Leon, welcomed the Moroccan ambassador to Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar, in a meeting that reflected the strong relations between the two countries and the positive atmosphere accompanying the presence of Moroccans in the host city of the match.
Garcia shared photos from the meeting on his official accounts, showing him exchanging commemorative jerseys with the Moroccan ambassador, as well as wearing a hat in the colors of the Moroccan national flag, in a symbolic gesture welcoming the Moroccan fans.
The Mexican official explained that the discussions focused on ways to enhance cooperation between Morocco and Mexico, especially in economic and investment fields, in addition to discussing arrangements related to hosting Moroccan fans during the World Cup finals.
The governor of Nuevo Leon confirmed that the city of Monterrey received 13 flights carrying thousands of Moroccan supporters coming to support the national team in their upcoming match against the Netherlands, emphasizing the city's readiness to provide suitable conditions for its guests and to ensure the success of this global sporting event.
Garcia also expressed his wishes for the "Atlas Lions" to succeed in the upcoming match, expressing his happiness at receiving a Moroccan national team jersey, indicating the great interest the national team and Moroccan fans have in the Mexican city.
