Experts predict a "balanced confrontation" between Morocco and the Netherlands in the World Cup.
Moroccan experts and coaches believe that the national football team faces its first real test in the knockout stages of the World Cup when it meets the Dutch team, in a match expected to be one of the strongest encounters of the round, given the level both teams displayed in the group stage.
The speakers confirmed, in statements to Hespress, that the "Atlas Lions" possess all the qualities to reach the next round, provided they capitalize on available opportunities, maintain tactical discipline, and minimize individual errors that could be costly in knockout matches.
Youssef Rossi, a former international player and current coach, stated that the three matches the Moroccan team played in the group stage showed that it is capable of going far in the tournament, even surpassing the historic achievement it made in the Qatar World Cup, if it continues to perform at the same pace.
Rossi explained in his statement to Hespress that the technical staff, led by Mohamed Wahbi, succeeded, despite the short period of its work, in establishing a different style of play that relies on tactical flexibility and changing the formation according to the course of the match, instead of merely defending and relying on counterattacks as was the case before. He added that the team has become more mature both technically and mentally, noting that the players have shown strong character and great self-confidence, which was evident in their ability to come back in the last match despite conceding two goals.
The same speaker considered that facing the Netherlands will be the actual beginning of the tough tests in the tournament, given the strength of the Dutch team, which relies on possession and high pressing and includes players active in the biggest European leagues. However, he emphasized that this team also suffers from some weaknesses that the Moroccan technical staff could exploit.
The former international player confirmed that the decisive factor in the match will be offensive efficiency, highlighting that the opportunities available to Morocco will be limited compared to what happened in the group stage, which requires the attackers to make the best use of them, as knockout matches are usually decided by small details.
